What will the impact of GST be on Indian hospitality industry?

India is going to follow a dual-GST model and implement a 4-tier tax structure of 5, 12, 18 and 28 percent, among which the GST on hospitality industry will be levied based on a hotel’s tariff and annual turnover.

Take a look at how hotels in India will be charged as below mentioned reforms:

Tariff Range GST Rate
< INR 1000 No tax
INR 1000 - INR 2499 12%
INR 2500 - INR 7499 18%
> INR 7500 28%

Whereas, Banquet operations will be imposed a GST of 18%. The introduction of GST is set to bring about a positive impact on the Indian economy, giving way to higher profits, lesser taxes and easier administration of businesses.
